Last princess 2

Title: The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality

Author: D. R. Whitney

Release Date: November 1, 2009

Pages: 374 pages

Genre: Epic Fantasy

Best Book Quote:

“Vivienne drifted above the desperate scene until the warmth of strong arms embraced her. The handsomest young man she had ever seen with black hair and the most penetrating golden eyes, was comforting her as he held her in the fine wool of his purple cloak.”

Imagine a girl who dreams of a handsome boy with golden eyes. In the dreams, he is madly in love with her and shows her places so beautiful she cannot believe they are real. But real they are and with this, you have the makings of a great new teen fantasy series, The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality by D. R. Whitney. This is the story of Vivienne Le Faye, a normal American 16-year old girl who lives in a boarding school in Manhattan. Her grandmother has recently died, leaving her an orphan. She inherits a family heirloom, a beautiful ruby necklace, and immediately begins to have vivid dreams of a golden eyed boy who professes his eternal love for her. The hardest part for her to believe is that the dreams are also telling that her she is the Lady of the Lake, the last princess of an alternate world.

This alternate world is filled with magic and mystery but absolutely no technology. Her dreams tell her that evil people are coming for her and Vivienne is determined to find out what the heck is really going on – it seems her dreams are saying that if she does find her way back to the fantasy world then both her world and theirs are going to end. What is a sixteen year old girl to do with all that responsibility? The only thing she knows for sure is that the golden eyed boy is there for her and she must find him.

D.R. Whitney has crafted a wonderful fantasy world where any adult or teenager can lose themselves in magic and wonder. It is a wide-ranging story filled with mystery, eternal love, and the fulfillment of a destiny that has waited thousands of years to reach culmination. This is a tremendous treat for any fantasy lover and I am especially pleased by the author’s ability to draw the reader into her spell and keep us wanting more.

D. R. Whitney’s ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ Spark New Fantasy World… Print, Movie Franchise

Magical Lands, Epic Battles, Timeless Love ……… Captured in Arthurian Scholar’s New Heroic Fantasy Series with Book One: “The Cup of Immortality,” Forerunner Release to Widely Anticipated Film Adaptation http://goddessprophecies.com

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 27, 2009 — Newly released, debut book series, The Goddess Prophecies, by author D. R. Whitney reads like a fantasy franchise ahead of its time. Self-prophesized? Whitney’s journey for creating her magical world onto the page (and the upcoming film adaptation), would make for yet an interesting read alone… almost twenty years in the making.

The Goddess Prophecies is 3-novel trilogy. The first book, The Cup of Immortality is available for sale on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble online.

The first book of The Goddess Prophecies:The Cup of Immortality is for sale at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble

Now taking an official bow with the release of her series’ Book One: “The Cup of Immortality” (Crescent Moon Press), Whitney gears for what insiders are calling the next “Lord of the Rings” or “Harry Potter” tome, of a new kind. “The Goddess Prophecies,” an epic fantasy series, takes place from the Fourth Century A.D. to the End of Days. It follows one extraordinary family whose reign began in a time of white magic and mysticism. The last descendent of the Lady of the Lake, a modern and daring twenty-something inherits a mysterious Ruby Amulet and, unaware of her noble lineage, her portentous dreams lead her on an epic heroic quest. The heroine becomes an instant target as she soon finds she is being followed by two secret societies – a centuries-old underground organization, and the last of the knights from Charlemagne come calling – and will do anything to obtain the Relic. Both want to stop her from finding out the truth: that she carries a secret that could rock the world.

Filmmaker Armand Mastroianni is the latest among Hollywood players to enter the pool of development interest in The Goddess Prophecies:

“I found the book to be innovative in a genre that had virtually every aspect of the literary fantasy world explored. The tale is immediately enthralling, creating fascinating characters involved in a captivating plot. I continually encounter statistics about fantasy-based films which reinforce my belief that ‘The Goddess Prophecies,’ made into 3D, can become a fantastic and engrossing film viewer experience as well as a worldwide box office success. This further reinforces my belief that the new 3D technology is the future of the film industry. Consider that 3D screenings have outperformed their 2D counter-parts by more than double in attendance rates and over three times in revenue. ”

As is every novelist’s dream to have Hollywood knocking on their door, Whitney, whose twenty-year journey for creating her magical world onto the page, has earned that knock: http://www.box.net/shared/5lo3o4ma3j. Mastroianni’s development interest sends a clear message about creating a serious presence in the fantasy market, as otherwise claimed by such titles as “Harry Potter” or “Lord of the Rings.” Adds Mastroianni, “There are few properties of this quality around these days and it is a rare pleasure when you find one.” Among numerous films to his credit Mastroianni also directed the film, “The Celestine Prophecy,” based on the bestselling book by James Redfield, and as co-produced by Barnet Bain (”What Dreams May Come”).

Dynamic, immersive, and bound to captivate audiences with wonder and enchantment, The Goddess Prophecies has been developed as a multi-book series in anticipation of its widespread demand, from page to screen. Whitney has already begun work on the second installment of her fantasy franchise with “The Witches Hammer,” to be followed by “The Scepter of Royalty,” “The Platter of Plenty,” and a subsequent volume, “The Orb of Majesty.”

With the emergence of Whitney’s first book, the distinguished John Paine offers his praise (notably recognized among New York’s publishing elite, including his editorial work at Penguin Group USA): “‘The Cup of Immortality’ by D.R. Whitney is a highly original fantasy. It weaves back and forth between a traditional setting and a striking alternative world set in modern times. With its well-realized characters and stirring action, I would recommend it to any reader for a fresh voice in fantasy. It’s a beautifully crafted and conceptualized series.”

The Goddess Prophecies was inspired by a series of dreams that led author and Arthurian scholar, Whitney, to England where she ultimately wrote her epic fantasy. A successful entrepreneur, experienced in writing for media, Whitney changed the course of her life when she became fascinated with Arthurian and Celtic studies; ultimately making it her life’s work. Next to the current book, the series’ multi-media entertainment will include the film adaptation, video game, animated/live-action feature, soundtrack, and the live operatic musical stage event.

The singularity and passion of Whitney’s vision, imagination and her command of the subject matter continues to attract the interest and support of some of the top talent in the world. As best exemplified by the blockbuster success of “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings,” and “Chronicles of Narnia” – from the page to the screen and stage – fantasy is currently the most successful and sought-after literary/entertainment genre of all media.

Mastroianni further states. “Escapism into other worlds has always held a special fascination for film audiences, as we know from the huge box office success of such films as ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ and ‘The Chronicles of Narnia.’ I do believe ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ would make an epic film and be a huge success at the box office. It offers so much for the viewer including a constantly changing visual landscape, which with today’s technology and advances with computer generated effects, affords unlimited possibilities.”

What is possible or impossible is only a matter of prospective.

–Pope Honorius II

The Goddess Prophecies is 3-novel trilogy. The first book, "The Cup of Immortality" will be released in early January 2009.

The first book of The Goddess Prophecies:The Cup of Immortality publishes late February 2009.

Tommaso awoke on a grassy bank near a river. An enveloping mist coiled between the trees. He was disoriented, and had a pounding headache. The ground beneath him shook violently. Coming toward him, he spotted great hairy beasts charging at top speed. Panicked, he reached for his automatic weapon, but it was not on him.

He rolled to hide under a tree and watched the new world around him. Just beyond him the hairy giants were battling a race of tall black beings with elven shaped ears. Nearly invisible female guards were firing arrows and thunder rumbled with great intensity. The speed at which the onslaught of warriors broke through the giants was startling.

Then came a crash of arms as a series of lightning bolts struck the warriors. Herds of Red Dragons swooped down from the skies, tearing the wounded giants to sheds as arrows and blades hit their mark with deadly accuracy. Terrible screams filled the air and magical fires erupted. The tall black leader stood stoic and fierce beneath his banner, directing his army. Soldiers in armor galloped atop mighty steeds wearing the crimson mark of his Militia Sancti Templi on their shields. Not far away, naked soldiers covered with white ash and blue woad designs charged the tall black warriors, cutting many of them down with their powerful axes.

Tommaso found a blade on the grass and gripped it hard. He couldn’t believe his eyes as small misshapen figures carrying torches and knives marched past him. Where in the hell was he?

The tall race of black creatures with pointed ears was massacring the giants at the edge of the woodland. Beyond was a hill that resembled the Tor, towering into the layers of mist. A loud ringing sound ripped through the skies and the huge warriors followed their leader, retreating in the other direction, even though they were clearly winning the battle. The Dragons overhead also circled around, following them. The giants and female guards that survived escaped into the forest.

Tommaso, all alone once more, dug his fingers into the rich, black dirt and slowly lifted himself up. He eyed the fresh carnage, smelled the blood, felt the dampness of the air. Warm blood was seeping from his own flesh wounds and he tried to get his bearings. He was nowhere he’d ever seen before. Was he dreaming or dead?

Was this where the Yorke woman had wound up?

He had no answers, but he had seen the mark his family had worn for generations on those powerful soldiers. He could not dishonor them, even here in this strange land. If Vivienne Yorke was alive, he would find her, and do the job he’d sworn to do.

From ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ to ‘The Goddess Prophecies,’…

Original PRWeb article: From ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ to ‘The Goddess Prophecies,’…  Read the original story

One of the chief architects behind the financing of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia,’ Eric Mitchell is the latest player to enter the Hollywood pool of development interest in the highly-praised epic fantasy, ‘The Goddess Prophecies,’ by author D.R. Whitney.

“I continually encounter statistics about fantasy-based films which reinforce my belief that ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ can be made into a fantastic film viewer experience as well as a worldwide box office success,” states Mitchell, who is producing the upcoming film ‘Atlas Shrugged’ starring Angelina Jolie , in conjunction with the Baldwin Entertainment Group. A sought-after advisor on film financing and project distribution, Mitchell has participated in placing over US$500 million into development and production financing of 21 feature films.

Filmmaker Armand Mastroianni recently also announced his attachment interest in the adaptation of Whitney’s fantasy book series, The Goddess Prophecies: “I found it to be innovative in a genre that has had virtually every aspect of the literary fantasy world explored. The book was immediately enthralling, creating a fascinating character involved in a captivating plot.”

As is every novelist’s dream to have Hollywood knocking on their door, Whitney, whose twenty-year journey for creating her magical world onto the page, has earned that knock. With Mastroianni’s development interest, now along with Mitchell’s in tow, these Hollywood players’ name attachment to Whitney’s epic fantasy sends a clear message about creating a serious presence in the fantasy market, as otherwise claimed by such titles as ‘ Harry Potter ‘ or ‘Lord of the Rings.’ ‘There are few properties of this quality around these days and it is a rare pleasure when you find one,’ adds Mastroianni. Among numerous films to his credit Mastroianni also directed the film, ‘The Celestine Prophecy,’ based on the bestselling book by James Redfield, and as co-produced by Barnet Bain (’What Dreams May Come’).

Dynamic, immersive, and bound to captivate audiences with wonder and enchantment, ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ has been developed as a multi-book series, with Book One: ‘The Cup of Immortality,’ about to make it’s publishing bow in December (Crescent Moon Press).

Mitchell and Mastroianni now on board with their film development interest, and further Hollywood key participation to be announced at a later date, Whitney gears for what insiders are calling the next fantasy franchise of another kind. ”The Goddess Prophecies’ was inspired by a series of dreams I had,” explains the author, an Arthurian scholar with over twenty years of research on the topic. “This led me to England where I would ultimately write my epic fantasy.’” A successful entrepreneur, experienced in writing for media, Whitney changed the course of her life when she became fascinated with Arthurian and Celtic studies; ultimately making it her life’s work.

”The Goddess Prophecies’ tells an amazing story with wonderful characters,” says Mitchell. “It has all of the elements that are required to develop the novel into an engrossing fantasy-based theatrical motion picture.’ Taking place from the Fourth Century A.D. to the End of Days, ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ follows one extraordinary family whose reign began in a time of white magic and mysticism. The story begins when their only child is given a powerful Amulet from the Cup of Immortality and sent out to one day save their world.

In anticipation of widespread demand, from page to screen, Whitney has already begun work on the second installment of her fantasy franchise with ‘The Witches Hammer,’ to be followed by ‘The Scepter of Royalty,’ ‘The Platter of Plenty,’ and a subsequent volume, ‘The Orb of Majesty.’

Praise for ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ also hails from New York’s publishing elite. The distinguished John Paine (recognized for his editorial work at Penguin Group USA), states: ”The Cup of Immortality’ by D.R. Whitney is a highly original fantasy. It weaves back and forth between a traditional setting and a striking alternative world set in modern times. With its well-realized characters and stirring action, I would recommend it to any reader for a fresh voice in fantasy. It’s a beautifully crafted and conceptualized series.’

Now several years in the making, “The Goddess Prophecies” skillfully combines sword, sorcery and spirituality with a fictional account of one woman’s quest to discover her destiny. The last descendant of the Lady of the Lake, a modern and daring twenty-something inherits this mysterious Ruby Amulet and, unaware of her noble lineage, her portentous dreams lead her on an epic heroic journey. Beset by strange and wondrous creatures in a fantasy dimension of ancient and ominous worlds, she learns that she is the last of the Holy Blood, the Bearer of the Amulet, and the next Lady of the Lake. She becomes an instant target as she soon finds she is being followed by two secret societies — a centuries-old underground organization, and the last of the knights from Charlemagne come calling. They will do anything to obtain the relic and stop her from finding out the truth: that she carries a secret that could rock the world.

“Escapism into other worlds has always held a special fascination for film audiences, as we know from the huge box office success of such films as ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ and ‘The Chronicles of Narnia,’” Mastroianni further states. “I do believe ‘The Goddess Prophecies’ would make an epic film and be a huge success at the box office. It offers so much for the viewer including a constantly changing visual landscape, which with today’s technology and advances with computer generated effects, affords unlimited possibilities.”

“The Goddess Prophecies’” film development underway, with both Mitchell and Mastroianni weighing in, now begs the question: Who will be cast in the starring roles? Stay tuned!
